It started sometime early in 2000 when getting exposure to the sound of an inductor based equalizer Robert Morin designed.
Robert got interested in preamps and run across a Tango transformer which had the L (inductor) C (capacitor) R (resistor) configuration. Knowing the sound the inductors could inject, he built two preamps: an active one and the other with the LCR configuration for comparison. The video explains his reaction to the sound while comparing both preamps with different LPs
